Picked this up at an auction, looked to be a pretty decent gun. I have never owned a bolt action rifle before. I got it home to look it over and this fell off. The black part at then end if the bolt. What's the problem here?
I think the "Cocking Piece Key" is missing. You gun is a variation on the Stevens 325 / Savage 340 I believe, re-branded for one of the chain stores. The drawing is not your exact gun.... but maybe it will help you make sense of it. Part #4.
Not sure how we missed this one. Hopefully he's still around. I'm wondering, is there anything inside the bolt or just that black cocking piece? If that's all you have, your missing a lot more than that little clip. I'd say you need everything less the bolt body #5 on the drawing given and #1.
Thanks for the replys guys, I was missing the cocking piece and part of the firing pin was broke. I got the parts installed and have yet to shoot it yet. Wish me luck.
