Here is one where a girl in Russia gets attached, stays in the fight and gets away. She is attacked by a much larger person who has a weapon, she takes a pretty good beating but doesn't give up.
Main lesson learned, don't give up until it's over.
I follow him on FB and YouTube. (Have been for about 3 years)
I like most of his stuff. He posts a lot of solid SD advice and commentary. But, I find his political position doesn't line up with the Constitution. He's pro background checks, anti FREE carry (Constitutional carry) and anti-OC. Some of his commentaries seem to advocating more restrictive gun laws.
I've been in a couple of FB discussions with John. He's a Christian and and OK guy. But, politically, he's a bit misguided in some areas I think.
One thing I have learned from his videos is Brazil is to be avoided at all times. Good channel and while I would hope he would come around on some of his views I think there is a lot to learn form the stuff he posts.
I love to travel, been to Germany, Italy, and the UK. But from watching his vids as much as I think it would be fun to visit South America I think I'd be ducking every time a guy drove by on the motorcycle.
I had dreams of traveling Europe one day (I've been to Mexico and Canada, as well as 45 US states) but since 9/11 I really have no desire to travel abroad anymore. With the advent of the internet, HD video, etc. etc. I don't feel I need to anymore. Want to explores the Rome ruins? Rent the HD video! After an hour you can get up and go to bed...no jet lag, over-inflated prices on food/beverage, etc.
Besides, there are sooooo many places in the US that I have avoided due to the high volume of tourists...when I retire, I will hit those places because I will have time! I've been to 45 states but still have not seen the Grand Canyon (except from the air) and Yellowstone!
South America? No desire whatsoever. I refuse to put my dollars into socialist countrie's pockets so I guess that eliminates me from travelling to various countries!
To each his own but watching a video of the Roman Forum or the Coliseum and actually walking the grounds where Caesars and ancient Romans lived and worked is very different for me. I watch a lot of Rick Steve's Travel on PBS and love it, but its just not the same. I think when I get my credit card miles high enough next year I'll take another trip, assuming Europe hasn't become a caliphate by that point.
Like some of you, I've been in most of the states, Canada, and Mexico. Mexico was back in the early 70's. I won't go there now. And there are some states that I will never see either. If I'm not allowed to defend myself with my choice of weapon, then I don't need to be there. Having said that there is enough to see, and do, in the states that will allow me to defend myself. So much in fact that we will never see it all in our life times. No need to go to Europe, or South America.
I agree that I try to avoid states that will not let me carry, so no more California. No NY. No Illinois if I can help it but sometimes I have to cross the river.
As you all might know, my wife is from Rio. We travel to Brasil (we spell it wrong here in the US) twice a year, we rent an apartment and stay a few weeks at a time. Rio is a very tourist (******) friendly city. If you stay out of the bad parts of town.
Like lots of places (New York City, New Orleans, L.A, Chicago, etc.) there are areas that are safe and areas that you do not go to. Heck, the last time I stayed in New Orleans, when we checked in to our hotel they gave us a map that clearly marked areas NOT to go.
Like a lot of countries, Brasil has safe areas for tourists and areas that are unsafe for anyone. Personally I feel much safer in Rio than I do in Oakland.
There was a phone app that would show you bad areas of town but since the bad areas were usually inhabited by minorities it was considered racist and shut down.
Only country I can think of that I would really like to see is Scotland. I have been to most of the touristy countries surrounding and in the Pacific some of them several times and got paid or going to them. (Thank you very much US Navy).
