Remember the 55gr copperhead blems-70$ for 1500...I bought about 30,000 from people all over the interweb-incld some here-for 25-50$ for 1500...1 guy was so disgusted he GAVE me 1400 for 6$shpg....Well used about 10k in the past year in training/teaching-great 50yd bullet-2"pretty consistent....But I wanted to see if the POS could actually group at 100yds.Loaded 100-each 1 by hand from start to finish-gave 20 cases to a benchrest friend so he could do his br magic,he even loaded them so they were.010 off lands-had to load 1 at a time.............The big day arrives-3 top tier ARs-1/7 barrels,my custom build with an obermeyer 5r 18" rifle gas 1/8,and a Ruger precision rifle that groups 77gr otm at 1/2" all day long.....The Ruger won with a 4"group w/my rifle 2nd at 4.2"-the top tier ARs??-6-8".Then we shot all rifles with 77gr OTM reloads and 55gr SP.All grouped under 1" w/77s and 1.2-1.5" with 55gr SPs.So I think I can safely say-Copperheads suck for anything but short range blaster.Well off to NC tomorrow for classes.

Who is or was the manufacturer of the Copperhead round? Is this typical of Copperhead or just Blems? I must assume the round is a .223, correct me if wrong. Zant you stated that a Bench Rest shooter reloaded a few rounds. When the rounds were unloaded was the defect in the powder charge or the construction of the round? When reloaded were the bullets reused?

This is very interesting to me that company could produce and sell such bad ammo.

It's not loaded ammo, just all copper bullets.

One thing I've found with those bullets is the bases aren't real square. I've been planning to square up several dozen and load up test rounds for my 22-250, I just haven't got around to it yet.

He's been loading up all those copper bullets!!:D:rolleyes:

Those Copperheads are some pretty sorry bullets. I bought something like 1500 of them a while back. After loading some up and shooting them, I decided to put them back and save them for "emergency" use. I posted how bad they were and I do believe that it was zant that offered to buy them and I think it was him that I finally sold them to!

Back from the bug infested wilds of western NC.Slayer is exactly right-took the grandkids MrMicroscope and checked 25 copperheads-I've seen more consistentcy in a bowl of oatmeal.I'm just going to keep loading them until gone...For accuracy,I've found the 77grOTMs are great in a 14.5/16 barrel...........I've been working on the .300 as defense round, the LeHigh 115gr Controlled Chaos-19.5-20gr 110/296-is a killer...the devastation on hogs has to be seen-if they work on a tough hog,an upright bi-ped won't stand a chance..............been re-setting up loading rm-up to 6 loaders now-people can't wait to sell their RCBS S/S for some reason.......and been working on pre80-MB 240 and 300 diesels-a wonderful car-easy to work on/cheap to fix,all my fellow ******** think I've gone hoity toty on them:)
