I am just wondering if I am crazy or not. I like my Single Action Heritage Rough Rider 6 shot Revolver 22 LR that I bought new in 2013 better then the Single Action Colt Peace Maker 6 shot Revolver 22 LR I inherited from my Father in law that he Purchased back in the 1970's. I like the Safety on it so I can load all six rounds instead of 5 rounds on the Peace maker. The barrel is thicker and seems to be good quality. What do you guys think of these Single Action 22 LR Revolvers from Heritage ?

I think you should like what you like. Your Rough Rider is a really good gun for the price.

I wouldn't compare the two, they are two very different things. The Rough Rider is a gun that you chose and that you love. It has safety features that you appreciate.

The Colt was your Dad's, I assume that gives it sentimental value to you. It's a very well made classic that will increase in value over time (depending on condition of course).

Enjoy them both, but to me the comparison isn't valid or even important.

I've always liked them. I do admit that I had one of the old Colt Peacemaker .22s many years ago, and the action on it was like melted butter. The Heritage is a great shooting little .22, and I still have it - well, my grandson has it. It will stay in my house until he is old enough to keep and care for it himself.

One little chirp: If you have the .22 Magnum cylinder - don't use it very often. My Mom had mine for 40 years and shot it a lot with the Magnums, and after she passed and I got that gun back I had to work on it to tighten the barrel back up on it. Your revolver should last "forever" if you just feed it .22 Long Rifle ammo.

I think it can be removed.

I have one. I only have the .22lr cylinder. So far it's done everything I've asked of it.
I do not have the Magnum cylinder either.

I do not have a Magnum cylinder for the Rough Rider, only 22 LR.

Don't have one myself but I see them under the glass at gun shops all the time and have wondered about the quality being a 22LR/Mag combo gun be for $150. Whenever I hear someone who owns one talk about them they always have good things to say. This thread only confirms what I've seen. One of these days I'm gonna have to break down and get me one just for kicks.

I just bought one a week or so ago, and it's a great little inexpensive gun. I've only used the .22 Mag cylinder so far, but I plan to switch cylinders and carry it loaded with .22LR snake shot for the summer.

I spent this past weekend looking for a Ruger Single Six with both cylinders. No luck in that department. I will be ordering one in the near future. But I spend a lot of time out of doors, here at home, and the inexpensive Rough Rider sounds like it would fit the bill for a carry pistol on the tractor, or lawn mower.

I just did a Magnet test on both my Peacemaker and Rough Rider. Both have pot metal Handles but the Rough Rider has a pot metal frame. They both have steal Cylinders and barrels. They both have pot metal Trigger guards. They both have steal triggers and hammers. So I guess the Peace maker does have one up on the Rough Rider with steal frame. Since its a 22 LR and will still last forever and the fact that I shoot it only occasionally, I still would rather shoot the Rough Rider because I like the safety.

I have one. I looked at the other types of .22 revolvers on display at the store where I bought mine. Mine didn't come with the mag cylinder, but they sell it for $30.00. The finish needs to be better so rust wont be an issue. If it was in stainless, that would be great. I love the Ruger single six, but it is expensive.

I have seen one become worn out,,,
But the kid was shooting 2-300 rounds a day.

His grandfather was very big into cowboy action shooting,,,
He bought the grandson two Heritage revolvers to train with,,,
So in two years that kid put somewhere around 60 to 70 thousand rounds down range.

Most of us wouldn't put that many rounds through a gun in a lifetime.

From what the G-Father told me,,,
The guns actions wore out,,,
Their accuracy didn't.

A few years back I made a cowboy rig for a friends graduation present,,,
I would have liked to had more money for a gun for her,,,
But at the time a Heritage was all I could afford.

She shoots it quite often though,,,
And with her young eyes she is better than I am,,,
Even though I am shooting a super accurate Colt Frontier Scout.

The Heritage is like my little Nissan Versa 4-door sedan,,,
It's built so as to be inexpensive to purchase,,,
And shoots to point of aim every time.

If the safety bothers you,,,
Just don't use it.

Just my 2-cents worth of opinion.

I've got one of those with the 6.5" barrel. Great plinker. Mine has both cylinders.

My wife has had one for a few years and it is her favorite 22 pistol. I also like the extra 22 mag cylinder myself. Don't worry about what others think, if you like the gun then that's what counts. I have a Hi Point JCP 40 S&W. it is ugly compared to other guns but I like the weight cause it lessens the felt recoil and it was dead on out of the box and still is. Like what you like.
