Hello everyone. This is my first time posting because I am completely stumped. I had a chance to pick up a Remington 8 Gauge Kiln Gun today and have no idea what the value is, if any at all. There was not a lot of time to consider it before hand so I had to jump on it. I have been looking online now and can't find information on them other than what they are used for. The seller was also not able to provide much information other than he knows it was functioning when his father put it away. It came with the original wood crate and charging handle but that is all. Im sure it is missing some accessories. The markings on the end of the barrel are
"Remington INDUSTRIAL GUN" "REMINGTON ARMS CO.INC., ILION.N.Y. MADE IN USA"
It then has some stamp markings next to that.
The receiver has "Model 400" NO532 Patent 2415952
Overall it seems to be in fair condition for its age but I am by no means an expert at all. I am able to open the breach, close it, and it will dry fire. The trigger mechanism is a pull tab on the back of the receiver. Also I can see that it has a firing pin in it but I can't check the condition because I don't know how to take it apart. The first 1 to 1.5 inches of the bore from the end of the barrel is pretty rough but after that it is a mirror finish inside. I am looking for any information someone might have and any tips you all can provide on cleaning it up a little. Also what I should and should not do to it. Thank you in advance.
