I've got a H&R Young American Double Action .32 model 1905 that I bought as "doesn't work" with intention to learn minor gun smithing skills. The problem that so far it is single action only, and it is now in firing order after some other repairs. pull the trigger and bang every time for the full cylinder rotation, check. If I cock the hammer back it does not stay all the way, it will roll forward to about 1/8 of an inch of the way to where the primer would sit with correct alignment and stay there until trigger is pressed, but the trigger does not get any lighter if at all, maybe a pound or 2 from a 12 pound trigger pull to begin with.
From all that I've read and watched in my minor experience (I've done basic field strip, cleaning, sight installation, etc.) there is always a spring inside the grip the presses against the hammer, I'm finding a metal bar that is bent instead of a spring if that makes a difference at all.
Could anyone give me some insight as to what I can do here?
