I have been carrying either my S&W Shield .45 (top) or my S&W Bodyguard .380 (bottom) depending on dress and circumstances.
I wanted an in-between size and caliber (since my son absconded with my 9mm Shield)
So... I bought my my first ever Glock today... a Glock 43 9mm 6+1 (middle)
Cleaned it and took it to the range... it performed well... a nice light-weight, point and shoot, easy-shooting 9mm.
However, can't say that I like it any better than the Shield 9mm I had... but it will be just fine.
I bought a black soft leather Tagua IWB RH holster and look forward to carrying the Glock.
Trigger is ok, not that special, just ok. Sights are traditional Glock with u shaped white line rear sight. The mag with the pinky extension (not shown) is what I'll carry.
I shot it at about 7-10 paces and was pleased with accuracy. Of course I have to put plenty of SD ammo through it to ensure it will prove to be reliable.
I bought the "air cooled" model and don't have to use any liquid coolant....
Seriously... I just checked the Shield and and Glock (see pics) and I guess I never noticed how much space there is for gunk/dust/lint to get into these carry guns-- good reason to shoot them and clean them often.
I have one also. I liked it right off the bat. Then after I put a 3.5 lb Ghost trigger connector in it for $18, I LOVE it.
You can buy one yourself and put it in with just a simple punch tool
I thought it (the .45 Shield) might be a handful, but I was pleasantly surprised at how easily handled it is when shooting. They improved the texture of the grip compared to the 9mm Shield and I can get a better purchase on it. The gun is ever so slightly bigger as well. Maybe the .45 cal is a 'less snappy' recoil as well-- appears to be so in that Shield.
The .45 will may surprise you if you get a chance to try one.
I own a Shield in 9mm and my good friend has the Glock model 43 and I prefer my Shield. I've fired both and I still prefer my Smith and I also own a Glock model 34 Gen4.
I have a block 42, my first block, just purchased a few months ago. DB also turned me onto the drop in ghost trigger the first day I posted about getting the block... ER glock.

Level II retention means it has a button that must be depressed to allow the pistol to be drawn, so that a young punk can't slip up beside you and heist your pistol. Or, at least not easily. I heard tales of inmates practicing taking guns off of each other in jail so that when they got out, they could grab an officer's gun. Not sure if true, though...
I thought the same when i looked em up under 3.5lb connector. Said fits all standard glocks. (not 42/43) I thought they must not make one until i tried looking for the 43 specifically. Brought mine down to 4lbs.
I changed my 10mm trigger spring, striker spring, and put a 3.5lb connector in it and its only 3.5-3.75lbs so not alot more. Actually kinda spungy feeling too. For the price and the feel and especially for a dedicated SD pistol its hard to beat just buying the ghost connector for the G43.
