Does anyone else find Glock people to be more than a little arrogant?
They act like if you're not carrying a Glock then there is something wrong with you.
Glock, to them, is the greatest things since sliced bread.
I've seen this with LEOs too all over the net who prefer something else. They get shoved around with the Glock mentality in policy and requirements.
I'm not knocking people who like Glocks or necessarily the pistol itself. Personally I don't like them, I would never buy one. They're ugly, they're plastic, they don't feel good to me, they don't have a hammer or. But I understand some people feel different. I have a lot of friends who like Glocks and will swear on them. But I'm talking about a mindset and influence that seems to make up a lot of people these days.
I have fun with them. I love it when they tell me how much better they will hold up then my 1911. I let them go on for a bit, then tell them let me know how its holding up in 70 years or so, cause that's how old my Remington Rand is.
Yes, happens all the time. The Armorer at work is a HUGE Glock person, and never misses an opportunity to belittle my choices in sidearms...even though HIS guns have failed in my hands during qualification.
Nothing wrong with the guns, good solid dependable reliable sidearms, but they just don't fit me.
Lots of fan boys out there - I can arguably be called one, since I run my own CZ website.
I'll make jokes at work about Glock superiority (only because the guys I work with all push the Springfield XDm) just to poke at co-workers or fellow Glock owners. I like them because they are inexpensive and easy to modify with the market for them being pretty expansive (and I can't own something without fiddling with it). Truth be told, I shoot better with a non-mod Springfield XDm .45 I just won't let my guys know that My arrogance is done strictly in jest.
Seems like I come across complaints and stories from policemen on forums all the time that carry something else besides glock and was forced to change because their department either "went to only Glock" or changed their qualifications to some kind of "glock standard" and made it unfair, difficult and uneven for the guys that didn't carry a glock (the supervisors and trainers complaining that the others "need to switch to glock and ditch the "outdated" revolver or some other semi auto.)
No, Glock enthusiasts don't bother me any more than a 1911 enthusiast, or a Corvette fan, or a Ford truck owner or anyone that has found a product they like and enjoy. I own a Glock along with a whole variety of other handguns. Some I like more than others. The Glock is sort of like a Honda car in that it just works but I wouldn't lose any sleep if I lost it or it broke as I would just go get another one. But heck if someone is really into a Glock then more power to them, shoot it and enjoy.
i must say. of the people I have seent hat own glocks. many of them ONLY own glocks.. and own multiples. so they obviously like them.
for me.. they are kinda ugly.. AND kinda expensive.
I can deal with one or the other. but ugly and expensive?
that said. that is for sure a subjective observation only pertaining to my personal taste ( or lack therof ).
I'm sure many may find them handsome!
i'm also not opposed to poly or composite parted guns. i heve plenty of keltec in my posession.. and digging in the back of my gun locker.. there are examples of cheap and ugly guns. like haskel 45's and lorcin chrome semi auto saturday night specials from a day long ago when there was lil money but firepower was needed. the lorcin is retired. the haskel actually see's the range once in a while. see.. it's real windy at outr range, and the stack of paper targets blows all over the place.. the haskel makes a great paper weight. and in a pince. it WILL shoot too. ( actually.. I'm a tack driver with that 45..a s odd as it is.. i took my CCW test with that gun back when florida got ccw... another guy at the test had a nice 1911.. lots of engraving.. custom grips. trigger and hammer work... gun must have been a stack of dead presidents the way it looked. adjustable windage and rear leaf..e tc. as most of you know the haskey is a heavy blocky gun with very basic machined ramp sights and a plain black paint job and black plastic grips. at the start of the class the instructor inspected our guns. he had a very nice comment about artwork about the 1911... I was embarrissed when he got to mine. all he said was. ' hmm.. sturdy ' probably the only thing he could think of saying that didn't sound too insulting. .. in any case.... all my shots that day were kill shots, range and close range, including rapid fire and reload.. had 1 shot that near doubled another shot. took carefull observation to see the paper print was 2 shots. poor other guy with the expensive 1911 could barely get on paper.. let alone the target. just goes to show you.. if the bullets go where you aim.. that's all that counts. )
The screen saver on my phone says "Glock Perfection"
The product is awesome. I carry one every day. But sometimes I meet people who take it a little too far and put down other guns that are in the same class.
Response #1:
No. Glock owners are all outstanding people; the salt of the earth.
Response #2:
Yes. But it is not a superiority complex, they are genuinely superior.
Response $3:
You wouldn't understand; it is a Glock thing.
Response #4 (the truth).
I own a Glock 17, carry it daily, and would NOT part with it. Why? Two reasons: weight and firepower. I carry that on the right with 17 in the mag and one up the pipe, and two full magazines on the left side. The weight is quite manageable in spite of the fact that I am carrying a quick 52 rounds.
I also own a 1911, keep it on the nightstand, and would NOT part with it. Why? It is a battleship. It never fails, and throws a chunk of lead sufficient to discourage ANY attacker, two or four footed. And when it is empty (which is too soon!), I can still beat a gorilla to death with it.
But I have no illusions about the Glock. I have no doubt that when it is completely worn out, my 1911 will still function flawlessly, as it has during the 40 years I have owned it. My ONLY objection to the Colt is that to carry it in condition one with a couple spare mags, I would still have limited rounds, and my pants would be constantly descending from the weight.
of all my cary guns.. ( and I like .380 ) i used to carry a sig p230 heavy and large for a .380.. nice gun though.. 6+1 mind you.
then i went minimal.. and a keltec p3at. saved a lil weight and alotta size. 5+1 though. no delusion that it is a worker gun.. not artwork.. or a long lifespan gun..e tc.
as a compromise I now carry a sig p238 back to the 6+1 witht he rubber bottomed clip it comes with standard.. and a nice pinch holster. no more weight thatn the keltec, though a hair thicker. still lighter than the 230.. clear winner.
prints less.. no less firepower. lost the decocker.. but gained a 1911 style mini sized gun.. yeah.. some aluminum parts. still find it to be an excelent feeling gun.

Amen,I love my glock but could careless what you like as long as you like your gun thats all that matters. But I understand what the op is saying,in life you will find this alot.Someone always has something better than you got,I just dont hang around with that kind of person.Just let it roll off your back.Have fun shooting whatever you like.
I love my Glock 26, but readily admit that being limited to certain off-duty carry guns made that decision for me 11 years ago. Sometime in the future I'd like to experiment with other brands to find what suits me best.
In any hobby, there will always be "fan boys". Many people on this planet need to realize that what works for them doesn't work for everyone, or sometimes even anyone, else.
Just remind them their Glock is much better then a 1911 because unlike a 1911, the Glock can also be molded into a Barbie Doll which can serve a dual purpose. As for my 1911, it will never work as a Barbie Doll.
I cannot deny that they are very accurate and utterly reliable. And can be just as customized as a 1911.
My Glocks VS my 1911s are equally matched. And if you take into consideration all practicalities, the Glocks edge out the 1911s. I have 2 1911s, both Govt length, one in 9mm and one in .45. I have 2 Glocks, both Full size, a G17 in 9mm and a G21 in .45. All 4 pistols have been accurized to the best of my gunsmithing abilities, all 4 pistols have been refinished with cerakote and have night sights installed. All of which are of 3 dot configuration. Meps on the Glocks and Trijicons on the 1911s. All 4 piatols have triggers that break at 4 pounds, tho the 1911s have the best triggers naturally because they are true single action triggers. But the Glock triggers are very nice themselves and do not stack. They all 4 are capable of very fine accuracy, the 2 1911s are both 1 holers at 25 yds from a rest, the glocks are not quite 1 holers, but are very close. Where the Glocks edge out the 1911s is they both have rails for mounting practical accessories. and they both are hi capacity. carrying almost twice as much ammo per magazine.
Ill always be a 1911 head thru and thru. And my heart wants to hate the plaztik glocks, but my experiences make sure I own 2 of them.
Regardless of the product of conversation, any closed minded opinion grates on me. You like what you like, i like what i like, and sometimes we agree. But i wont attempt to tell anyone that what they like is wrong, and i expect the same. I have both 1911s and Glocks. I dont care for any of the XD pistols, but the wife does. Nothing against them, just not for me. True, some Glock owners think that they are the 'elite' because of what they have, but same goes for alot of 1911, XD, CZ, Berretta, etc. owners.
I like all metal guns myself.Mostly stainless.I guess we all like different guns and people that own Glocks seem to like them.I guess that's all that matters.
AR-15's have a lot of plastic parts and they are pretty awesome.I wish I had the extra cash to put one together,it looks like a lot of fun.
People who hate Glocks read too damn much. I'm 58 years old and just recently bought a Glock Model 34 Gen 4 and I only wish I'd bought one sooner. Anyone can post pictures of blown apart guns on the site but most happened because of the ammo and not the pistol. I can show top straps blown apart from revolvers as well due to ammo. Don't knock one until you tried one and by the way last time I checked my revolvers don't have safetys on them either.
Are glocks dependable? yep. They pass all the torture tests and all that and all the law carrys them as duty guns....so what. They are one of the ugliest guns on the planet next to a hi point and I wouldnt trade one good 1911 for a box of brand new glocks. I carry a full size 1911 with no issue and an extra mag. If you cant carry a full size 1911, you have the wrong gear to begin with. I hear everyone say they carry a glock because they can carry 50 rounds....I will leave that one alone....
