Strange "squib"

After our regular practice session I wanted to run 50 quick rounds through my HK p2000 9mm carry gun. I had experienced 1 or 2 weak primer strikes with this gun and my reloads. I brought 50 rounds of Freedom Munitions reloads from a few years back (no longer buy FM products) and here is what happended.

Ran through 49 of 50 rounds without issue. No bang on the 50th round so I ejected the round, put it back in a mag, chambered and tried to get it to ignite (HK also has double strike). After 2-3 attempts I ejected the round and a case flew out leaving a squib in the barrel. I was the solo shooter at the range and I did even notice the primer ignition.

This is a heck of a coincidence that I would get an initial failure to ignite and subsequently a squib with the same round. Is there any reason these two events might be connected?

I'm going to pull apart all my remaining FM rounds and I don't know that I even want to salvage the primed cases.

I would never ever buy other than well known brand name ammunition for one of my guns until I've read other's experience's with it first. I seldom experiment with much of anything preferring to let other's do the testing. And if my current product is working well, I don't change.

Ive heard nothing but bad news about their ammo. Was at the range a couple weeks ago, and I guy bought a nice used precision rifle, and a bunch of freedom munitions 308 match rounds with Hornady A-Max bullets. He bought I think 4 boxes. Not one of them would chamber in his 308 so we tested then in mine, and they wouldn't chamber in mine either. Which he paid a lot for that ammo. Seen people have same issues with handgun ammo, and it is way over Max oal specs.

I've not had any issues with the freedom munitions ammo I have bought. I have not shot a lot the rifle ammo that I bought, but I sighted my .308 in and shot a few boxes with decent results. I have shot several hundred .45 and .40 rounds though with no issues.

Good Morning Sir...when I saw that term you had used 'SQUIB' I was not familiar with that
single term, but a double term when I was associated and dealing with nuclear weapons systems.
As you use the term, is it like a 'hang-fire'.. something happens the round doesn't do something?
The double term I recall with the 'squib' pretty much is explained in this from Google
with Squib Initator....

My brother had a strange situation also. In the middle of a mag one went pop not bang sure enough it was a squib the primer went off but didn't burn the powder most of it was still in the casing when he pulled it out. The projectile was very easy to get out of the barrel. He asked me what happened but I did not have a answer for him.
