A couple months back I got a box of misc. ammo from my Uncle's estate which included 7 bricks of Sears brand .22LR. This led to the realization that my only .22s were a single-shot target pistol and a single-shot derringer. I needed a repeater!
My loving wife Linda pointed out that my birthday was coming up and after a quick search of Pinto's guns put a Colt Frontier Scout on layaway for me. It was built in 1958 and is in beautiful condition and, being Linda, she got a very good deal on it. She paid it off last week and tonight was my first trip to the range.
I'm still working through some bulk Remington ( I seem to inherit a lot of .22 ammo) and so I took a few hundred rounds of that. I shot a few targets at ten yards to get used to the gun, then backed things off to 25 yards. I used a six-o'clock hold as I had a feeling (incorrect as it turns out) that it would shoot high at that range. After several 3-1/2" to 5" groups I decided to really knuckle-down and concentrate.
Holy crap! Yes, it was a 3-3/4" group, but four of the shots went into 1-1/4" just right of my point of aim!
Yep- I really, really like this little Colt!
