As some of you know I have wanted a Winchester 1907 for a long time. I have been looking for a military model that is in good to great condition but have not found one.
I wanted one to have and be a safe queen shooting it one time a year type of gun.
Another to add to my collection.
Well a friend told me about one that is not a safe queen but a standard model and is rusted and has a cracked stock.
So I asked what he wanted for it and can I see it. His brother has it in another state and sent me some pictures.
This gun is in bad shape but it can be restored. the rifling is in GREAT shape and he said he shot it just a few weeks ago so it works good.
It has the military swivels on it. So I am not sure about it.
I will get a better idea of it when it comes.
Oh yea I did buy it for $200.
I know where to get new stock and forend for it (So they match).
I am still looking for a safe queen but now I will have one to play with and not worry about "Scratching it" so to speak.
This is one that I can bring out to shoot when friends are over and NOT freak out when someone else has it in there hands.
I can put it thru a batch of blueing that someone else is paying for (Love that) and 351 cal. is around and not too expensive.
I will get the new (Made to specs.) wood and checker it and refinish it.
It will be a shooter.
I will post pictures when it comes and the steps of refinishing it.
Another gun the "Shop" bought and will not have to tell the little lady.

If I ever heard or saw one of those before, I don't remember it. So I went to guns america to see what one looked like. Nope don't recall ever seeing one before. I also saw a box of 351 ammo for it on there. Min bid was $100! I like a lot of older guns I'm just not a collector. On the cabnit and rack's I have now, I could put in three or four more.

We still see 531 ammo around here usually running at around $30-$35 a box .
During the ammo shortage a while back, a lot of weird and wonderfull stuff was put on the shelves of LGS just to show that there was some ammo avable.
I picked up a couple of boxes of 222-rimmed that I haven't seen in a long time.

Yes it was called a 1907 self loader and shoots WSL, Winchester self loading.
They made 4 self loaders.
1903 was made in .22WRN it had a tube mag. Made 1903-1936.
1905 was .32 Win SL and .35 Win SL. Made 1905-1920.
1907 was made in .351 Win SL. Made 1907-1957.
1910 was made in .401 WIN SL. Made 1910-1936.
They made a bunch of 1907s for France that were made full auto.

Hopefully if i ever get down your way i'll check it out. Have you ever worked on one before? I was wondering if the charging plunger was hard to operate. My 63 is pretty easy but than again it's only a .22. The spring, maybe isn't quite as stiff. By the way there are 4 or 5 on ********* for sale right now, but a lot more than the $200.00 you paid.

In all my years I have only had one in my hands. It was a friends of my dads when I was young.
It charges easy But I did not charge it in fact I was young enough that I was not aloud to shot it so I do not know what it will feel like.
I am on all the time both selling and looking. The ones on there are standard models (Not military or police) You have to be very careful when looking for a 1907 because the seller will say they are but looking at them you can tell they are not.
And people pay wayyyyyyyyyy too much for a standard thinking they were used in war or LEO when they were not. As much as $1500. And they are only worth $600-900.
I may never find the one I want but at lest now I will have one to play with and maybe take it out hunting. I talked to Josh and he was telling me the ammo is coming back into the market. They shoot out at 1800fps so 100 yard shot will be easy. Josh is looking for brass and dies so he can load some "special" ones for me to use (Like the ones he loads for my .50).
My 1907 will be here on Monday.
X-Mas in July:D:D:D:D:D:D
I am looking for a lager capacity mag for it now and have already ordered the wood.
Can't wait:rolleyes::p:D

What a PIA.......
I waited all day for the gun to show up and at 5 pm I got a e-mail telling me it will not be here till today.
This is worse then having presents under the X-mas tree 2 weeks before X-Mas and One just the size of a new gun and not being able to open it and not even being able to seek a peak......
Allot is suppose to be here today. The gun, ammo, and the new wood for a stock and forearm.
Boy is it tuff to work when you are always getting up to see if Fed Ex is here.

Well I got it and 1/2 hour latter the bullets came in. I so want to shoot it but will wait due to it pouring rain and I should strip it and check it out before I shoot it. Here are some pictures and also the .351 round. It is bigger then I thought it would be.

Got the wood yesterday and there is going to be allot of work on them but they do have some great looking grain and color in them.
Rob came over and after looking at the gun and checking it out we took her out side and shot it.
WOW I thought it would be a little kick but she kicks ALLOT more then I thought.
Now that I know it works good it is time to start to refinish it. All I need is time.
The shop has allot of guns that needs repairs and refinishing.
Make money first then play with my projects.
I will be posting pictures as I go along.
