For those of my generation who do not, and cannot, comprehend why Facebook exists: I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.
Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell passersby what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later and with whom.
I give them pictures of my family, my dog, and of me gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering the lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch, using the rest room, trimming my toe nails, cleaning my navel, and posting what anybody and everybody does every day.
I also listen to their conversations, give them the "thumbs up" and tell them I like them.
And it works just like Facebook.

I already have four people following me: two police officers, a private investigator and a psychiatrist.

Well written summary. I have a Facebook account only to keep up on my kids and relative's lives. It used to be a phone call or a visit. Now when you want to know what's going on with a loved one, you have to go to their Facebook page. That or a text. No one answers their phone (voice mail) but a text gets an immediate answer (usually).

Me text: Hey, been awhile. You still alive?
answer text: Alive and well! All good here. You?
Me: Yep, still breathing. Keep in touch!
Answer: Will do. You can always check my Facebook page. I post my stuff there.
Me: (sigh)

I got on FB a few years ago to keep up with a granddaughter. I spend a lot of time there now. Some very informative sites and I have reconnected with people I never would have any other way. FB is what you make of it.
