ive acquired a Walther PP 7.65 Eagle over N on ejection port and slide next to it. Any ideas of value etc.? I've been told it was manufactured late 1945. No markings at all on left side of gun. Told this was to keep enemy from knowing what factory to bomb. Any help much appreciated!
Eagle over N is the standard German proof mark since 1940 and is still in use to day. Who ever told you the story about the lack of marking was full of , Well the word starts with s. Sorry about that, the markings have been removed for whatever reason, as a result the guns only value is as a shooter, maybe 150 to 200, Maybe, if the serial number hasn't been removed also. sorry about that
OK. AC was used the first time in 1944. the serial number does date it to the last moth of production in 1945. but there are problems, slide markings were applied to every PP until the doors were shut, even then bins were full of parts correctly marked. Workers put gun s together for cartons of cigar rites for the allies The magazine of course is a modern ( postwar ) replacement. The slide markings have been removed, why ? don't know, just a guess, the Walther factory revered to the Russians and they did odd things, it may have been put together by the Russians and the slide markings remove to hide the fact they were allowing the Germans to reopen the arms factory. Other wise don't know, with out any more information I have to stand by by my original estimate. it is a mongrel gun. Perhaps others have more valid information, good luck
