My oldest son (37) came down for a visit this weekend. He just got his CCW Permit and is tossing around ideas for what he will buy to carry, so I pulled out a few from the safe to let him try out and practice with. They needed the cobwebs chased out anyway.
He fired my PPK (stainless .380 - my carry pistol), my old S&W .38 Special (5" barrel), the Beretta 92FS 9mm and my old Colt 1911A1. Just informal shooting. Of these, he did exceptionally well with all, but his favorites were the 9mm and the .45. I reminded him that the .45 is his when I kick the bucket, but he really likes the Beretta. I guess he gets both.
I am proud of both of my sons, and this kid is a real pistol shot. I had him set up an old syrup bottle on the berm about 30 feet away and I don't think he missed it hardly at all. I cranked off a few rounds out of the .38, but I had a blast just watching him shoot! Heck - he shoots the Walther much better than I do.
This was a very positive experience - just thought I'd share it.
