Estate sale - need info on gun

Hello,

So I've been buying some guns on estate and will post up questions as to what they're worth (hope I did ok, but not sure).

But for this particular gun, I have no idea what it is and what caliber it shoots, so any help on identifying the gun, caliber, and potential value is appreciated! I didn't make any offers on the gun yet. No serial number, possible manufacturer on top, although etching may have been done aftermarket. It appears to be european wwi/wwii vintage. Pictures aint the best, but appears to be bolt action with a tubular magazine

Thanks for the estimate guys. They were looking at $300-500 possibly (probably because of the engraving). I guess I can offer much lower and see if they're willing to take it. I also appreciate the information on the caliber. If it was something more "normal", I'd probably be willing to spend more. Maybe something in more original condition would have been more desirable

Just for the heck of it, next time you lay eyes on it, look to see if the top of the chamber is stamped with an "N". If by chance it is, it's been proofed to be used with the higher pressure ammo used in machine guns. If by chance you end up with it and want to shoot it there's often a lot of it available.
I have a couple carbines and in addition to handloading for them, I keep a big stash of the machine gun ammo and other military ammo around. I occasionally see some newer, off brand softpoint ammo for sale at guns shows but, have no experience with it. I have a ton of the original Remington 170gr softpoint ammo in my collection but, it's just that, collectible ammo and is too valuable to just blast off.
