Rooter, good to see a VN Navy vet on the site. In VN on USS INDRA (ARL-37), a shallow-draft repair ship, we spent time at Cat Lo. We outfitted 80 assault craft for River Assault Squadrons 13 & 15. Most the of boats were reconfigured WWII LCM-6 landing craft that weighed 80 tons with the armor plate. Did gunfire support/battle damage repairs for the boats in the Rung Sat Special Zone. TexasNative

Turns out I am the only Iron Eagle. That is some handle you have there. It is a fun way to remember what you have done.

Rooter about 1 year ago we were involved in a discussion It evolved to talk of a Quad 50 "Widow maker" I posted photos of a quad 50 "Respect" that was there in 68. ran into a guy that remembers Widow maker. He was in a Transportation co that ran QL! from Danang to Phu Bai. He remembers it at the bridge area at Langco. Just hought you should know you aren't entirely crazy, it was there.

Greetings Carver and a question for you..The specialist tells me my game hip is bursitius...(sp)...being a wood worker I want to carve my own walking cane...I'm about 5'9" do what is a length end to end for my hieght? Thanks..Chief

What I recomend is to go to any local store that sells those adjustable walking sticks, take your tape measure with you. Grab one of theirs, and set the highth to what you want, and then measure your results. Now you know about how long to make your own. Use a soft wood for a light stick, and a good hard wood makes a heavier stick. If you will be using it as an aid to walking, I recomend the lighter woods, such as pine. If you want to use it for poking cattle in a shoot, or for SD, I recomend the harder woods.

Chief, any night I can go to sleep and I am out within two minutes and I can sleep until the alarm goes off with no problem. However, I have been sick this week so I am just stuck in a rut. But it gave us a chance to say hi. That is really cool that you make wooden gifts for kids. Sounds like you up keep your end of the world just fine.

    Hey rooter,
I want to extend a hand to ya personally. Many thanks for the "rooter column," as I've dubbed it. I've been a guest on here for a while, and the VMBB section is why I finally joined. Since I've discovered the site its grown on me, and now I follow it almost religiously. Carry on! -one ear or a million, someone's going to listen.
