    I recently acquired an Iver Johnson Safety Hammerless Automatic chambered in .38 S&W. Serial number D6694. I'm curious if anyone has information on this revolver (e.g. year it was manufactured, which model it is, can it fire smokeless cartridges, etc.). Any help is greatly appreciated.

    .38 Iver Johnson 5 shot Breakaway Revolver Serial number is G22910 and is etched on left side under owl head grip. Nothing is etched on the trigger guard. I attached pictures. I'm looking to determine the manufacture dates and whether I can use modern ammo in this firearm.

I have recently obtained a 2nd Gen Iver Johnson and want to ID the year. It’s a .38 crack top full size with the serial number C47867 under neath grip on the frame.
