Just aquired this and i think i have a very scarce item because i cant find another set-up like it,so i am checking with the experts here. wondering on a scale of 1-10 how rare is it or how often do they show up 1 being all the time and 10 being never. I have done a little research so far and if i am wrong please correct me. Have a walther ppk eagle over n stamped on barrel and just below it,serial number puts it in 1940. no other proof marks which means it was private ownership an eagle over n means made after april of that year. I am confused on the serial number ending in k which i understand as for the military but no military proof marks and if military would not be in a box. Gun very very nice. Comes complete in orginal box with matching serial number on box. Has three practice dummy rounds in holder in the box, 2 have been struck one has not, extra mag, cleaning rod, alumin box with small bottle and some other fabric inside and the owners manual in german. i posted this earlier on the walther site but i see there are several knowlegeable guys here danny, jim, others

Are there any other import markings on it? There have been a ton of older Walther coming in from importers. You would probably see a lasered on name of the importer, those are not worth as much. If not, then you probably have one the is more rare. But, not impossible to find.

,Lets see now, a new in the box, 1940 PPK, with all the original accessories, everything looks new, even the box, how rare, I would put it on the same scale as a authentic sighting of Big Foot or the Loch Ness monster. Vaule, good grief, don't have a clue other than at least a thousand.:) BTW , the K surfix is proper.

There are no import marks and I dont think it would be legal to import. In my research I read something about they had to do some minor changes to the ppk to make it legal to import after the war, if I remember right it was 2 light and had to make it heavier. I just checked it side by side with my buddies west german imported ppk mid 60's and it is heavier looks just a hair longer with some slight noticable difference and the clips will not interchange. I have just found another complete set up like mine on a website called legacy-colletables.com he has just reduced the price to $4200

Not quite in the category of Bigfoot, those do turn up from time to time.

The "K" has nothing to do with military use, it just means the PPK model; Walther started out numbering PPK's in the same series as the PP, but c.1938 started to use the suffix K for the PPK and P for the PP. The German terms are Polizei Pistole and Polizei Pistole Kriminal. (The German word "Kriminal" means a detective or a plain clothes officer.)

Sir you have a very nice outfit there. I have a 1932 c/n just as yours with all the goodies. The only thing is the instruction booklet, it is post war. So if you went to sell it I would not show the manual. Congrats on finding this rarity. I also have a boxed 1938 pp in 22cal. You should have no problem getting 4k or more at a on line auction.
Regards
Danny:)

hi danny thanks for your input. i am curious about the manual, do you have a picture of the correct manual for this set. Also the one other i found on a website called legacy-collectables.com has the exact same manual with his as i do. Do we both have period incorrect manuals or is there a chance you are mistaken. I hope not to offend you by that you seem well educated in ppk's and if your sure i will start hunting for the correct manual

Sir go to Ebay

Item number:
It is a reproduction as the real ones are around 125 dollars. At the beginning of WW2 they changed it to a brown sheet of paper. Hope this helps?
