Can anyone give me some advice as to where might be the best place to purchase a 18.5" barrel for a 20 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun I am thinking of buying?
The seller is selling just the frame with no barrel.

There are a few on ebay but they are not inexpensive.

If Mossberg had them in stock, they were only $105.

@MrDetail I just noticed ware you are from. I am a West Chester person but younger I lived in Lawrence park And did allot of stone work around the area with the DiRocco family. And worked with the McGinns construction Co. They use to be right next to the Dairy Queen on Rt 3. Right up from Ridley state park.
How are things down there?.
We are almost the same age so we were around each other back then.
My Bro went to the high school in Newtown Square.

Don't pay a lot for the frame alone.

One You Tuber I watch says you can sometimes get a big discount if a barrel has a dent at say; around 19 inches or so from the breech. Removing a dent can be expensive, so purchase a shotgun with a dented barrel cheap and cut it at 18-1/2 inches. A little stone work to polish the muzzle and you're done!

I found another shotgun that is listed like this "
Mossberg 500 Crown Grade 12 gauge With 28"VR/24"Slug Barrel".
Can you switch out barrels after buying a new gun? I don't want a 28" barrel.

The way that I read that, it comes with both. Choose which one you want to leave on.

Yes you can. As long as it's for the Mossberg 500.

So are you saying it needs to be a 18.5" barrel made by Mossberg?
I don't know enough yet to say that other manufacturers that make a 18.5" barrel will fit a Mossberg 500 shotgun.

No, it doesn't have to be made by Mossberg, just has to be made for the 500.
