I have one of these civil-war era guns that is in about excellent condition. The trigger pull was terrible - too heavy and worse. I sent the lock to Lodgewood Mfg., ostensibly to have a "trigger job" performed. They discovered that the lock's bridle was missing, which I had been too dumb to realize. They installed a reproduction bridle, and all is well. Also, the mainspring was a home-made replacement - which they replaced with an original Springfield mainspring. Now, the trigger pull is reasonably smooth and about 6.5 lb (probably close to the original armory specs).
