we have a 27.25 inch octagon Burrel s/n 21746. Behind trigger are dates pat. Oct 4 1884 and below that is Jan 20 1885. Barrel tapers from 7/16 to 5/16 on flats. Looks all Original, well used. Any info when manufactured
PICTURES are very helpful. Clear, sharp pictures....full length, both left and right sides, as well as closeups of any unusual features, engraving, etc. HINT: take the firearm outside in natural light to get a better picture.
Without pictures it is impossible to tell you anything about the weapon.. It is a Winchester, a Henry, a Sharps, a Remington? Single shot? High wall, low wall. What?
Please refer to the sticky, Please Read Before Posting.
A .45 -70 is bigger than 7/16 and if it's only 5 /16 at the muzzle it would fit inside the bore of my .45-70. You measure barrel width on an octagon barrel between the flats, not how wide each individual flat is. Also, without knowing what kind of rifle it is that you have, all we can tell you is it is newer than the patent dates.
Please describe the item in as much detail as possible. Detail does not mean "in good shape" ,describe how the wood is, how much blueing (% of original finish left) there is etc., and anything else you see that may be helpful. Tell us all marking, words, and letters anywhere on the gun...
