I just purchased a Springfield 1911 10mm extended slide. It doesn’t break down similar to the 1911 government model. It has no barrel bushing and the spring and the short recoil guide rod must be removed to the rear after removing the slide. The recoil spring is under extreme pressure & makes reassembly a total nightmare. I’m sorry that I bought this pistol. Any suggestions that would make reassembly easier?

Go to disassembly. Read it. Then assemble in reverse order. Pay attention to area about a pin through the guide rod.
