It's a Type I made for Japan in Italy - essentially a box mag fed Carcano in 6.5x50 mm caliber. Take a look at the safety - typical Carcano setup rather than the Arisaka's push & twist arrangement.Arisaka type 30. It was the standard Japanese military rifle from 1897-1905.
I would venture to say, it is an Arisaka. Which model, I am not sure.
My Dad had a couple in his bring back collection. (They went to other family members.)
Does the back of the knurled knob on the rear of the bolt, resemble a Crisanthamum?
