Another of dad's favored Rugers - dated '78 using SN reference at Ruger's website. The inventory notes on this guy indicate ".308 Winchester" and "26in Bull barrel/sights".

The scope is marked "redfield 6x" and has serial J107102.

[Old Guns]

The 77 is a fine gun. The heavy barrel is a nice feature. The gun appears to be in good condition. The scope is a nice older Redfield and worth a hundred or so on eBay. A straight 6 power on this gun is not the best choice as the gun can outs hoot the scope. Like most Rugers it has not increased very much in value but would sell in the 500 dollar range without the scope and for a little more with it. You may not full value for the scope with the gun. A glut of recent inexpensive bolt rifles have helped drive the prices of bolt action rifle down a bit.
