I think I've found the best round for my old Win 9422mag. I've been trying out various brands and such lately and the Hornady 30gr Vmax has the best performance. This is a ballistic tip, 2200fps at the muzzle. Feeds well, flat trajectory, no ftf so far. A bit pricey, $14/50rds at my local shop, but that's ok.

Did you try the Remington ammo loaded with Ballistic Tips?

I only have WMR pistols, no rifles....yet.

What rifle do you shoot 40gr CCi when you hunt? Is that mostly for small game, or have you taken down large game with it too?

Not yet, but from what I've read they're nearly identical. Nice wheel gun, btw.
