Do you think a 22 rifle is an option for home defence?

    Isn't that always the point?
I'm sure folks have survived .50 BMG hits too.
The point is, "the right place" gets a whole lot bigger with a higher energy round.
You had to hit the death star exactly in the ventilation shaft.
If you had another death star, could could have hit it anywhere :)

I was in a bar years ago where a guy got shot 6 times with a 45acp. He got on his motorcycle and rode to the hospital. That was in the Joliet IL area back in the mid 1970's.

Google the number of wounded from Viet Nam and think about what they were hit with. Check out guns in the link:

How many of those were able to stay in the fight?
Lots of limbless GI's from a rifle round as well.
I'm still not going to use my 22 and I'm sticking to my 45.

I was in that bar 3 times and each time their was a shooting or bar fight. I did find another bar down the street.

The guy that took the time to shoot a guy 6 times was just mean. the guy that got shot 6 times and drove himself to the hospital now that's a tough guy. Definitely a tough bar!

No I don't. Because I sold that rifle some time ago... And haven't acquired one due to limited availability of .22 bullets. As said before, if I had a .22 I would NOT be afraid to use it as a means of HD. And as said before, just because there are other options, doesn't mean that a .22 isn't one.

And I know a guy who ran 35 yards after being shot in the right lung with a load of #8s from a 12 gauge at 8 feet.

No, it doesn't get a "whole lot bigger." It gets bigger by the difference in diameter of the bullets-HUNDREDTHS of an inch with handguns.

    Really?
So the "kill zone hit" for a .500 SW is a quarter of an inch larger than that of a .25 ACP?

And that's one of the reasons I quit going to bars!
