When I built my 222 Rem a couple years ago I planned on powdercoating it blue and putting a “sky” laminate stock on it from Boyd’s. I ended up cold bluing it with some birchwood Casey cold blue since I didn’t have an oven at the time large enough to accommodate a 26” barrel.
My girlfriend got me the stock I wanted for Christmas. When I replaced our range I kept the old one to use for powdercoating larger objects, like rifle barrels. At the time I didn’t think it was large enough without needing to be modified. Last week I discovered that I was wrong.
Tuesday I started taking the rifle apart, removed the bluing and started powdercoating. Wednesday I got it all finished up and put back together.
A blue rifle may not appeal to everyone, but I think it looks awesome!

Your work looks remarkable and, the Triple Deuce is a simply delightful cartridge. Bill, I think this might be the first time we've been on opposite pages...lol!!! Doesn't matter in the least, you're the only one it has to please and, I bet it's a shooter....which covers a multitude of sin...:D

Very nice build. I assume that is the Savage Target Action . Just curious what barrel you used in your build?

    Wow

    Very nice

And it's theft proofed, better than drilling holes in it.

    Thanks, Vic!
It shoots pretty good. It seems to prefer 52gr Berger’s.

    Thanks, everyone!

    Thanks!
It actually started life as a model 12FV(a cabelas exclusive). The barrel is an E.R Shaw. 26” standard mag contour, 1:12 twist.

    Never had a 22CF that didn't like Berger's.

I just recently started using some Berger’s. In this case they performed slightly better than Sierra match kings.
