When I built my 222 Rem a couple years ago I planned on powdercoating it blue and putting a “sky” laminate stock on it from Boyd’s. I ended up cold bluing it with some birchwood Casey cold blue since I didn’t have an oven at the time large enough to accommodate a 26” barrel. My girlfriend got me the stock I wanted for Christmas. When I replaced our range I kept the old one to use for powdercoating larger objects, like rifle barrels. At the time I didn’t think it was large enough without needing to be modified. Last week I discovered that I was wrong. Tuesday I started taking the rifle apart, removed the bluing and started powdercoating. Wednesday I got it all finished up and put back together. A blue rifle may not appeal to everyone, but I think it looks awesome!
