Let me preface this by saying I do not have anything in a 300WSM but I do reload and I do reload for accuracy. OAL really only comes into play with a semi-auto. Bolt and break barrel actions are more forgiving. The gap between the lands and the bullet can vary w/o creating any pressure problems. I have heard of reloaders seating the bullet to were it just touches the lands. They do this b/c this is how there gun is most accurate. This may not apply to you. Its something you have to play with. You do lose some of your seating depth b/c of this therefor you lose some durability of the bullet being able to stay in the brass if you drop a round.
