Made a test batch this morning. Went a little different than I expected, but test came out decent. I cut the test slab into wedges and blocks to see if it was holding together and uniform. Looked decent, so I re melted it for a block form.

Day 2 of curing , my sample block looks good, so the mold block should too.

    Clarity is excellent!

Tonight ill unbox the mold block for a check. If it looks good, ill call the test a go.

I also have a smaller block ill shoot my 380 into.

This bg I was a little skeptical about, it didn't hydrate good initially, but at remelt, it was great, and low foam, no defoamer needed, even combining 2 batches. Clarity is looking good, a light amber. Other I have used was a slightly opake lemonade color . Shot ok, but you wanted to cut it in half to view, this stuff looks better.

Nicely done! Its hard to get that kind of clarity. When its too dark its hard to calibrate with your bb's without cutting the block. Way better when you can see whats going on. Good job Soundguy

Well, great results, did a pre shooting test today. Gelatin calibrated at 7.9 cm, that's close enough.

Unboxed the gelatin, clarity is great. I took tho pic 8" away at an up angle. At the top of the block you see what looks like white inclusions, they aren't, you are seeing diagonally thru the corner of the block to the top. If you look close at the plastic liner bag I peeled off, you can see it thru the block.

I'm re melting tonight, as I just did straight shooting, no clothes, etc. Tho was just proof of concept. I am pouring another mold i think, this one a cyl. Using a 2L bottle as a disposable form, melting max to pour in the bottom to give a flat face vs the 4 nubs, ill then pour the 2L full till the start of the ogive. 2L is just over 1/2 gallon, with the flat wax plug, ill have 1/2g exactly, meaning a better , cheaper 1 shot mold. ( 9$ of gelatin for that cylinder ). After curing, cut the mold open at the wax to gelatin joint, open the top cap, and the cyl should slide out, or blow into the top for a little push. The wax plug can be re melted for the next bottle. I've got a batch ready to mix up tonight to hydrate, ill pour the bottle mold in the morning.

I poured another mold this morning. A 2l cyl. I'm going go a/b standard food grade gelatin and ballistic specific gell. Poured the cyl and a control cup for testing lil Las batch in a small Tupperware for bb testing.

Right off the bat I notice this he mixes better, less clumps, melted almost as easy, clarity? At pour a little less maybee, but will see after the test cup sets.

Over all, when I cut up the hydrated gel to re melt, it felt as good, when cutting with a steak knife, so I'm hopefull it will compare well.

Red water as the 'over penetration' portion of the test, and some jeans and shirt material to face the ribs and gelatin

I can not wait to see what those .45s do. And the .380s.
It almost feels like looking at a birthday present that you can't open for a few days.;)

    Not yet :)

After the shoot, me and my buddies may see a movie, but if not, on the way home we pass the grocery ;)

Now I can see if my Rock 1911 likes them.

My Rock Is 45acp likes them pretty good. I just shot some last week. I was impressed.

If you dont mind me asking, what rounds are you gonna test in your BG for each caliber?
