You have GOT to see this!

The text that went with it:

This video was taken from inside the cockpit of an A-10 ThunderBolt by the pilot. It was a night view. What you see is from 9700 feet away (almost two miles).

Four terrorists are walking along a street with no clue that someone is watching them........ from almost 2 miles away in the dark..

The A-10 utilizes a 30 mm cannon that fires 3900 Rounds per minute (65 per second....) with a muzzle velocity 3500 feet per second.

You can see the gun camera shake a bit as the pilot fires, then count about 4 seconds for the rounds to travel 2 miles. Every tenth round is a tracer, so the bullets you actually see are every tenth; the Thugs are "ventilated" with thousands of rounds.

The result; four fewer scumbags won't be blowing up women and children!

    Download the video here:

It is 3 MB, so if you are dial up it will take a few minutes to download -

Did you see the dog take off. He might be unclean to the terrorists but he is still alive and they are dog food.

here is what an A-10 does!!!
the rounds impact before the sound of the gun firing reaches the target. Iraqis called it the SILENT GUN!

I still stand by my earlier statement about the A-10. Gotta love that "BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" sound the GAU-8/A makes:D:D:D:D The AH-64 is a fine piece of helecopter also:D:D

Depends on Uncle Sam's whim every 3 yrs.
That vid is 30mm HEDP from an Apache. Apaches don't fire tracers. The reason you see the rounds is because the FLIR sees heat and that one is on white-hot. On black-hot they look like rocks.

That looked like a lethal-target hit.

The A-10 fires 30mm DU. I've never seen one fire tracers either. In FLIR they look like lasers, not tennis balls. To the naked eye you can't see them.

For CAS in the fighting we typically see, the Apache usually goes bingo on gas before it gets used as designed. It's the distances combined with the unpredictable timing. Very frustrating. It was made to go after armor.

The A-10 can stay sort of close and get in, but once it's on it's usually not much of surprise it's there. Not like an F15 or F16 5 miles overhead or Apaches behind the skyline. An A-10 pair can ambush armor, but not necessarily insurgents unless the FO or UAV is several steps ahead of the curve.

In my opinion, the Kiowa is the bird to worry about if you're launching mortar rounds out of your trunk and running. Kiowas linger close and come in fast and closer. If they're on you; you're done. They won't lose you or go bingo.

Very sad video. It's bad enough when you hear about it but when you see the video it really sinks in.

You're right! I was an A10 crew chief at England AFB, Louisiana for almost 9 years. It's still a very cool video though!

:D Y'all were some sneaky suckers. I use to just about live at "Red Dirt" WMA in the Kisatchie Nat. Forest north of England and Polk.
We'd be sitting around and next thing you know, there would be a A-10 overhead.
In a thick pine woods they would be on top of us before we could hear them.
Cool and scarey at the same time.  :D
