    Hi Sappa......welcome to TFF. :)

We haven't been ignoring you! I've searching all of my databases for an A. Peterman shotgun and haven't been able to find anything.

A search of the Blue Book, The Standard Catalog of Firearms, and Flayderman's Guide To Antique American Firearms don't find such a gunmaker listed. Even a Google search didn't help.

I even looked it up under the "obscure makers" section at Shotgunworld and didn't find anything.

I'll keep looking......but in the meantime, you might want to go over to the Shotgunworld Forum and ask there....they're specialists on shotguns, their identification, and values.

If you find out anything, c'mon back and let us know......

    A. PETERMAN was an upscale, small retailer of gentlemans goods, sort of a common mans ABICROMBIE AND FITCH.

his main competitor was EDWARD K. TRYON, a very large sporting goods retailer in Phiily...

TRYON sold VULCAN ARMS CO. SXS`s, manufactured by CRESCENT ARMS CO. for H.D. FOLSOM...

they were a stup up in quality from the usual "hardware store" SXS or even the KNICKERBOCKER line...

VL&D (1898 sporting goods review) seems to believe that the VULCAN was the best "AMERICAN MADE" SXS for the money, and opines that the A. PETERMAN guns were good quality but probaly imports...

that as far as i got.

    best regards, mike.
