When some of I hope will soon be a group that might adopt me as an esteemed colleague or those here atvTff who I have a great respect for began to request pics of specific guns and ammo and equipment and ephemera or additional ancillary shooting equipment in my possession I began to dig through what's left in my hands after cancer forced a grand liquidation of my life's effort...

I was tired and dirty and had to move around some heavy totes...

There had been some odd specific requests for pics of rather eponymous items - but while grumpy and in a bit of a pain crisis I did as requested...

With a smile.

Because it occurs to me that there would be no traffic amongst my threads or contributions - because the viewed numbers would not b as high and the return traffic and multiple return thread input would not exist but for one small thing.

Some of you already did respect and remember me from before and others now see me anew as an expert with some real experience hardware and creds who had been there and done that and Bern gifted a T-shirt.

Because I could not generate these pics and replies and expert data and display advanced English lit and pop cultural data without being a genuine non poser and half decent person.

Hopefully that's how you see things.

I am trying stay active and contribute and hope you will keep me around or allow me to stay.

I hope you value my contributions so far to days.

Mike what is the cartridge in the enbloc clips that is in the box . Last picture . Is that a Mauser rifle it's for ? I have seen it before but can't place it .

Looks a lot like .43 Mauser but in a enbloc clip ?

They do look like 11.15 X 60R and I don't recall any other country adopting a cartridge with the Mauser "A" base. If you enlarge it the cardboard box says something "GEWHR" and I think 1886 and 1888. There was a German military rifle that took a clip like that and it fell out the bottom when empty but I can't remember the model it was called....and I didn't remember it being in 11.15 X 60R.

That is what came to mind when 1st saw it but was thinking it had a more of a neck on it but not sure enough to put money on it !!

Those in the clip have enough neck to be 11.15 X 60R and, they are paper patched which that cartridge was. The others, they have the "A" base and I think it's possibly the lighting not showing the long, Mauser neck.

Political influence aside and populace sentiment aside and lesser scions of noble houses of trade and manufacture aside - bloodline relationship and marriage line influence non withstanding - imperial decree and the promise of titles lands deeds and income generating concerns or stipend producing / profit generating company shares or grants or endowments off the table for the moment...

Following the French military and governmental attitudes post cessation of occupation and an end to hostilities (and to be fair a few additional years of martial law and near Civil war - uprisings and succession and insurrections and Civil unrest and mob rule and familial feud internecine conflicts - religious programs - culture clashes - communist party revolutionary seditious activity - union thuggery - labor movement thievery - carpet baggery - regional affiliation pride rallies - foreign government velvet glove monetary and arms peddling and drug trafficking intelligence gathering directorate semi passive velvet glove style revolutionary activities direction and support provided with an eye to more affordable / less visible / alphabet letter agency and directorship driven / division sobriquet assigned grey and black market terrorist and black market / organized crime / cult of personality nut job fringe group quasi revolutionary opposition group support paying and directing and supporting and controlling DR Evil / DR No / fascist Nazi werewolf million year Reich / the south will rise again / Jim Jones kool-aid dispensing / temple of doom / thunder dome / orange free state zombie apocalypse evil empire watch Rome burn fiddle playing I am legion - it was a pleasure to burn - groups and types and organizations who plan support and cause such global conflict decades of war pandemic causing holocaust generating simply not very nice folk or group of folks....

They wanted money and control and influence and generational income producing service contracts and back room deals and cultural status elevation or rank advancement or key governmental no show high pay job for life - etc...

And they wanted to finally defeat Remington / the USA out in a major arms adoption contract trials competition in their own government controlled lands - they wanted to eliminate Remington and Mauser profiting from and gaining benefits and market share - taking their people's jobs and income out of their people's hands - slowing or halting the domestic growth and expansion of industry and scientific as advance and world wide attendance of their higher level halls of learning...

When WWII ended France post war had 18 pistols in their TO&E and not one made in France...
Arsenal production and ammo manufacture and parts and upgrades and reworks not done in France...
Longer supply lines on vital wartime defense equipment - ships getting sunk at sea - shipments lost - work delayed - troops fighting inadequately supplied - ammo running low - troops using obsolete less capable last generation weapons and being slaughtered - industry collapsed or hopelessly out of date - they lose battles and soldiers die and Wars are lost all while the countries money djssapears while their
Folk are unemployed and businesses go bankrupt and economy faulters...

This was an attempt - a large scale major player involved attempt to turn things around - winning a war being good for your industry and economy - win a war and profits rise and businesses of industry expand and advance and outpace others - your polity or nation state or confederacy or empire rises in stature and influence and power brokerage worldwide amongst it's peers - colonial matters fare better and territory advanced and profits roll in and power expands...

In this case the big dog in the room was team USA and brand Remington submitting once again it's world dominating well priced easily customized .43 caliber cartridge based reformado - indestructible and efficient and easily maintained and simple to operate and quick to train troops to utilize and gain expert status with - near universally adopted (approx 58 counties at its peak) and beloved by troops and hunters and gentleman marksman alike full length three line / front tier primary issue infantry rifle - the Remington military rolling block based very accurate and long ranged hard to kill available in every conceived configuration from your wildest dreams...

Our host country designed it's rifle action platform a repeating manual action weapon utilizing the most advanced up to date modern self contained center fire primed metallic cartridge filled with the newest propellant pushing the latest projectile with advanced profiles and material elements or alloys - still making allowances for paper patching specialized loads...

A weapon that would satisfy and enhance it's elite "jager" specialist trained troops based in elite formation units with other jagers or parceled out to normal units to bolster their ranks and pass on new skills. Consider them (Jagers) to all be non coms and all be designated marksmen receiving extra pay in each paycheck not only for having advanced in rank and being and expert marksman (both allowing him to wear extra devises or insignia in uniform) but being on the list for early advancement to the next higher rank and considered a value to be retained in service.

The jagers as individuals or handfuls salted amongst standard troops to show advanced small unit tactics or individual skills - or in their own homogeneous all jager units they received superior pay and rank and equipment...

The jager rifle had better sights - an improved trigger - an added in dovetailed pistol grip - a special short sword style ncos bayonet - contoured steel buttplate - brass stock disc - recessed crown on muzzle - a special proof code designating the weapon as more accurate or very tight tolerances...

My off the top of my head stream of consciousness spoken word interview style doctoral thesis level level dissertation showing the amazing intrinsic value and impact a true sesquipedalion eidetic have upon the English language as if being taken over and telefactored / by a true muse with a gift for prose and a love of the Harvard classics and Norton's list or anthology of English literature can type into a cellphone while stuck in the emergency room with an IV rapid infuser plumbed into my arm running saline for advanced dehydration and potassium to avoid muscles seizures and lock up cramping...

Along with half a dozen other fine chemical pharmaceutical cocktails of great potency and with and on an alarming period and frequency....

no reference works or firearms periodical journals or trade publications up my sleeve....

but you surmise correctly as to the cartridges capacity and dimensional particulars and historical import....
