Two of the Izhevsk Mosin 91/30s and the Chinese Type 53 in our gun racks bear import markings. Haven't checked closely, but they're probably CAI. Our two Finnish Mosin 28/30s, on the other hand, don't have any import marks at all, leasteays none that I can find. One of the 28/30s was acquired five or six years ago, the other several days ago. Any thoughts as to why there don't seem to be any import markings? It's no big deal really, I was just wondering.

More likely you had a decent importer.

I have a couple of guns imported by CAI (aka "the morons with the electric pencil"). And they are marked, in letters about 3/8" tall, on the side of the gun. Pretty. :(

I also have a K98 imported by someone else (don't recall who), and it appears to be roll-marked, on the bottom of the barrel, in letters about 1/16" tall. Still quite easy to read, but it does not jump out and slap you in the face.
