My Grandpa had this rifle and I can't really find anything out about it. All the Pictures I see of Amberg 8mm have a bayonet on them, but this doesn't. It also has a really low serial number. Was this a military rifle or civilian rifle? Can anyone shed any light where it came from and possible value?

There are 8 rounds missing from the box, so I assume he shot them in this gun at some time.
