Ammo or lack there of...

This has been discussed before here but i'm bringing it up again. I just got back from my "supplier" which does mostly internet sales but has a retail store front now and people are going ape poop buying ammo. His shelves, which are normally fully stocked, are very thin. I went for .223/5.56, it don't matter to me i'll shoot anything but steel through it, and he was almost wiped out. I bought three boxes of the Federal 5.56, 20 round white boxes, leaving five boxes on the shelf.

He said buisness has been VERY brisk since the election and he cant keep up with the demand. I called a friend and he said WalMart was completely wiped out of any and all calibers with the exception of shot shells.

I hope this paranoia slows down or else prices will go through the roof. I've never had a problem getting any caliber, or for that matter any brand where i'm at, until now.

Have any of you folks noticed a shorter supply as of late?

Shotgun shells for trap & skeet #8 #9 are real hard to find around here. My son and I go to the trap range every weekend and its hard finding 8 boxes so we can do 4 rounds each. Buckshot, slugs and steel shot they have.

Rifle and handgun ammo we have plenty of that.

This happened exactly four years ago but it also happened to the guns too.

Obama is the reason. His position on guns is we need "reasonable" gun controls and no tactical weapons. If he can jam more gun controls through congress he will since he no longer has to worry about getting re-elected. The easiest way to control guns is to starve them of ammo. He may find a way to do that too. That is the reason behind the hoarding. The last time it took a year for the market place to settle down and when it finally did, all the prices jumped up too. It will take longer this time, I suspect. Gun owners may be saturated with guns but they always need ammo so the shortages, as I see it, will be ammo and components for reloading.

In the next four years we will see a large movement to the socialistic Progressive agenda. America will never be the same. And the "more free stuff for me" crowd that elected Obama will get stronger and bigger to assure many more years of a Progressive agenda till America is bankrupt, just like Europe. Then they'll protest in the streets just like in Greece.

I just got done talking with the owner of the gun store I frequent. We happened to be at the bowling alley at the same time. We got to chatting a bit. He said ammo sales for him are up 700%. Also I didn't know that all ammo is taxed at 11% by the feds before he even gets to put it on the shelf and that's supose to go up by another 3% come the first of the year. So looks like buy ammo before the first of the year, or pay another 3% from what it is now :bleh:.

It all looks good around Houston, my LGS is usually low on primers but it's been that way since '08. Went to my local Wally World yesterday and picked up 10 boxes of Tulammo 7.62x39 and they had 15 left, they had about 3/4 of the case still full.

Cabelas and bass pro are having a big ammo sale in the next few weeks. At the store or online. Prices are gunna be real cheap. Better order.

It's only going to get worse. First the selves will go empty, then the Wholesale outlets will go dry, then the Manufactures will get monster orders from LEO and Government tying up all manufacturing. This will be both ammo and reloading components.

I wounder how many people that are "stocking up" are doing so to "Fight for their Freedom", and how many are burring their stash just to save a few pennies at the checkout line.

Yes, very well said.

Plenty of ammo here....
Academy, wally-world, LGS's, etc.
Only supply shortage seems to be some of
the 'bulk' .22lr's like WWB, Blazer.
Plenty in 50rnd boxes.
And of course, the over-priced Swamp People 375's.....available.

If congress would do their job reliably, as in, upholding the constitution, then there'd be no worries. He'd only be able to do something through executive order, which would also be unconstitutional.

Regardless of what happens, it will be unconstitutional. We have an irrelevant congress and a dictator in the WH, and we have a Supreme Court that doesn't uphold the Bill of Rights either.

We are totally screwed.

graehaven:

Obama has already invoked Executive Orders that are unconstitutional which did not effect the results of the election. He has vowed in public to get his way on issue that congress refuses to approve by going around them. We have a "King" in place for now and the "more free stuff" majority will assure many more liberal Progressive presidents, congress and judges in the future.

You are right ...We are screwed and especially our decedents.

Here is something to think about.

When the shtf how long do you think it will be till the world gets back on its feet? Will it be the same as it was before? Will you be able to go to wall mart and resotck your ammo? Is this a reasonable thought?

Just when you think you got enough ammo think again.

When it happens everything will shut down. No food, no ammo, no water, no gun shows, no wally world, no nothing.

obuma's co-horts aren't having a lot of success when it comes to gun control (yet), but ammo restrictions are easily done. There are several places in CA where buying ammo is almost as difficult as buying a firearm, except for a waiting period. In LA ammo cannot be sold New Year's Eve or 4th of July. We all know about CA's buzzard zone. I understand N.J. has some weird restrictions on ammo too. So, I'm not "hoarding", just stocking up for future use...:D
