Went to the Academy Sports the just open here Friday. Good supply of the more common hunting rounds, 222, 243, 270, 06, 308, 300 Win Mag, etc. Whole aisle of shotgun shell all gauges, not one round of 22, 22WMR or 223.
Pistol rounds 40, 9MM, 38 spl, plentiful. Prices were high 308 was $46 a box.

$46 a box makes me think 2 things 1. I'm glad I don't have a 308 2. I'm glad I reload. Good grief that's ridiculous.

Not really, premium hunting ammo at Academy was $36-$40 per box a year ago. The cheap .308 rounds was Monarch for $9.99 per box. The current pirce for Monarch (when they have it) is $15.99. Winchester, and Federal are all up there near the $40 mark. Remington premium ammo is listed at $47.99 per box.

Federal Premium® Ammunition Champion .22 LR 36-Grain Rimfire Ammunition (525 rds). Item #:745SKU #:0022299200. Price: $19.99 Available in select stores only.

I guess I'm just used to what it costs me to load my own. I can load 100 rounds of 300 win mag using premium bullets for about the same price of 20 premium factory rounds.

I'm there! I reload for the same reason you do, it saves me a lot of money! I can choose premium bullets for hunting, and social work, or I can choose plain cheap lead bullets for plinking.
