    An EMS Christmas
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Never have been much of a hand writing poetry, but I thought I'd give it a try...

    Twas the Night Before Christmas
    And all through the Station
    All the medics were sleeping
    Without celebration.

    Their day had been spent
With the sick and the stoned
    And now they were hoping
    To be left alone,

    When piercing the darkness
    They heard the alarm
    Which meant that some citizen
    Had come to some harm.

    With sirens and lights
    They screamed down the road,
    Dense fog had set in
    To worsen the load.

As they arrived on the scene
And the fog slowly gave way
    They observed a bad wreck…
    “Could that be a sleigh?”

    They picked through the wreckage
Until they found old Saint Nick,
    Battered and broken –
    They’d better move quick.

    “C-collar! Backboard! O2 and IV!
    Intubate! Ventilate! EKG!”
Up onto the gurney and into the truck,
They prayed that old Santa hadn’t run out of luck.

That’s when the old man opened his eyes
And gave them a wink much to their surprise!
“I will be fine, lads,” he said as he rose.
“I am, after all, a legend, you know!”

    And with that thought understood
    The old man disappeared!
    As did the sleigh
    And the scattered reindeer.

    The two paramedics
Were left all out of sorts.
    Just how in the hell
    Would you write THAT report!

Merry Christmas, all, and have a SAFE holiday! I work Christmas Eve and my wife works Christmas Day, so it'll be an EMS Christmas for this household.

Remington is up to his Labrador ears in chew toys and doggie snacks. He even has doggie vitamins. Christy's taking him to the vet and the groomer today...

Nice one, Doc. God bless all those who give up their holidays to keep us safe....the firemen, the cops, the paramedics, ER crews.....

.....but especially our armed forces overseas who place their lives between us and war's desolation.

Let me echo a lot of the sentiments already expressed. It truly takes a different breed to do what you and some of the other board members do; whether you work in the medical field, or as a cop, or fireman, or warrior for your country, my hat is off to all of you in thanks, for now and forever.

    Salut' !
