ON THIS DAY

On April 24, 1898, Spain declared war on the United States after rejecting America's ultimatum to withdraw from Cuba.

If this date were to interest anyone, I suppose there are page after page on GOOGLE about details...I recall from history lessons that the battleship,
USS MAINE, was blown up in Havana Harbor ...also about future, US president, Theodore Roosevelt, charging up San Juan Hill with the Rough Riders...Are other wars doomed to be forgotten? Perhaps you have some distant kin who participated in the war with Spain? Chief

My Grandfather was with the 3 Conn Volunteer Infantry. Remember this was the last war where the Volunteer Regiments fought in some numbers.
