I think if I were a Nevadan, I just might vote for Reid. The "word" is that if Reid loses, and the Dems retain control of the Senate, Chuckles Shumer will become the new majority leader. Shumer's hatreds are famous, and most of all he hates US! You and me and everyone who owns or ever even thought of owning a gun. If he gets that kind of power, there will be an assault weapons ban, a semi-auto ban, a handgun ban, a milsurp ban, a pump shotgun ban, etc., etc. We might be allowed to keep single barrel shotguns, but only by buying a $10,000 hunting license and passing endless "tests" on hunting.

So is Reid good? NO! Is he the lesser of two evils? Probably.

Of course the best outcome would be for the Dems to lose both houses of Congress, but that might not happen.

One of the most beautiful aspects of our government is everyone is entitled to an opinion they can express ! And one of the most beautiful aspects of the Net is such get a wide audience, which brings them into conflict with other opinions. Another aspect of the Net is exposure to an ocean of "facts" and maybe not so "facts" ! Peruse, and believe, carefully !!

A historically documentable axiom is the human species has a remarkable talent to act against its own best interests. Members of the "Gun Culture" aren't exceptions to that axiom ! The NRA, formed shortly post -Civil War - has a long history of acting in the interests of the firearms culture and society. Sea changes in the political landscape post 1968 neccessarily changed the NRA mission from supportive to politically active. And the nature of politics is one of compromise and dealing. Its nature is also one of perfidity, subterfuge, propaganda. Make sure you know which of these manifold aspects you're examining.

Feel free to criticize the NRA for what you perceive as errors of ommission or commission . There are several other firearms organizations working to the same ends as the NRA. Feel free to join/support them in our mutual endeavor.

Just remember this ! Anti-gunners have shown themselves to be unprincipled, mendacious and manipulative of the public, press, and government ! What better way to discredit a dangerous opponent than to manipulate public and membership opinion against it ? >MW

I would never vote for Reid. If that is the case we need to find a way to get Schumer out of power. I am sure there is dirt on him. We really need to fight hard this november, things are really not good

I saw Lapierre say that the Harry Reed rumor was false and that no endorsement has been made. But that wont matter. Bash away. Thanks Pops for your post. Maybe this place isnt completely an anti-NRA site after all. Well, that would be debateable.

I'm at a complete loss. first, I finally achieve the age to join AARP, and they back O's healthcare, so they are out. now I come into some cash to finally become an NRA life member, and they pull this.

    I can't win.

This reminds me of the NRA enforcing McCain over JD Hayworth.

The NRA clearly gave Hayworth a better score than McCain, yet still...

I started a thread about McCain VS Hayworth, but it has been deleted so I guess I won't bother reposting it.

Just like AARP, the NRA seems to be leaning to the left. I'll never join AARP and I already dropped my NRA membership.

Tell me about it. I was just reading about it here:

    NRA - Harry Reid

There is contact info at the bottom of the article so you can voice your opinion to the NRA if you wish (I hope everyone does!) I'm livid about this! First the DISCLOSE ACT (I wrote to them about it twice) now this?
