    I do have to admit that my wife will not buy any kitchen knives other than J.A.Henckels four star, and they ain't cheap!

    Wusthof in my house. Which means that my bread knife cost more than the one in the OP.

    Why would anyone spend $2000 on a fancy 1911 when a Hi-Point will shoot the same ammo at the same speed?
    Same thing.

    I use a Ginsu steak knife, myself. Does a wonderful job on bread.

    I'm past lusting after chef's knives . What Ive got ( and what I buy, occasionally ) are knives that take ( and more importantly ) hold a good edge . Part of my kitchen equipment is a tri-stone honing block featuring three grit grades and a ceramic rod to touch up an edge while I'm working .

    No, that's how many people were paid to rate it excellent. Any item with less than 100 reviews that is a questionable item I just don't trust the reviews.

    You're looking at it with the wrong perspective. You're not just spending $109 and change, you're saving $100. Who doesn't like a good bargain? This like so many other items is for the guy (or gal) that has more money than sense.
