I have an Astra my grandmother left behind. No clue where she got it. Not from my grandfather. More likely because of him! Likely came after the start of the Spanish war in 1936 when she would have been 52. I see see no sign of the 2-digit alpha numeric production number, not under the safety, not under the grips. Serial number is 252747 + "Esperanza y Unceta GUERNICA Spain, Astra - Cal 6.35 & 25" on the slide right. "Hope" emblem is on left rear of frame and the word "Hope" alone is on the barrel. I know this is well trodden ground but I haven't seen a post that dates the beginning/end of the "Guernica" marking.
It's a sentimental piece for me and I was wondering when it was made.

Thanks in advance to the experts!
Russ

You have an Astra Hope .25 auto.
It was the forerunner to the Astra Firecat.
That's all I can tell you.
Thanks, Bill

Thanks! One Shot
