    I have made preliminary observations and comparisons. It looks like the Spanish engineers faithfully followed the German engineer blueprints, with only subtle differences. I have yet to get into detailed disassembly and internal comparisons. Not enough durn time in the day!

    I've heard that the internals of the Astra were simplified for easier manufacture, but I don't know for sure.

    I'll tell ya one thing though, that Mauser is one complex SOB....a lot of precision machined parts that fit exactly with each screws, nuts, or bolts (except to hold the handles on). Must be hundreds of hours of machining in that baby.
