I have on order a Systema pistol and do not want to add a beavertail safety to it. I have heard it is possible to buy or adapt the hammer so there will not be hammer bite. Is this true? I would appreciate any help or advise from this list as you are all very knowledgble.

Any good pistolsmith can bob the hammer for you.

If you just don't want to cut the frame to add a beavertail grip safety, Wilson Combat makes a drop in replacement. Then you can add a combat hammer. No hammer bite with this combo. Plus higher grip for better recoil control.

    Hi seebeesbob.....welcome to TFF.

Congratulations on your new Systema.....that's a darn fine M1911!

Sounds like what you want is a Commander-style (bobbed) hammer. That would be a drop-in replacement.

However, anybody without multiple hammerbite scars, isn't a REAL 1911Nut!

Hope you'll stick around and enjoy our forums!
