Dopes anyone know who is capable of doing this for me? Mauser bolt is already bent, but about at a 45 degree angle, need it to clear a scope. I was thinking mybe Antique Dr. or does anyone know of a reputable place.

Thanks,
mm454

Generally speaking, a bent Mauser bolt needs to be ground to clear the scope eyepiece.

A MUCH better alternative, both functionally and aesthetically, is to replace the military handle with a commercial one.

I assume you mean, cut the military handle and knob off, and replace it with a commercial one, not replace the whole bolt body with a commercial one. But I still need someone to weld that for me, my little welder won't handle that.

Correct. Military handle comes off, commercial style handle gets welded on.

$30 plus bolt handle.

Thats Great Antique Dr. , Whats the turnaround time for this? I will pay shipping both ways, and i will look in the brownells catalog today and order a bolt handle.
Can you e-mail me with your shipping address
My email is [email protected]

It will probably be about a week before I can ship it, I will have to wait for a brownells order to come in.

My new bolt handle came in from Brownell's yesterday. I shipped out the bolt and the new handle today to you. I included a money order for $40.00, $30 for the installation, the rest for return shipping and handling. It cost only $5.40 to ship and $2.00 for insurance, so there a little extra for packing costs. Hope that was satisfactory...

Could you let me know when you get it?, just so I know It got there o.k.

Thanks

I did not finish-polish the handle, just contoured and surfaced the weld. It's on the way.

Actually the handle itself IS straight. The bolt in the picture is cocked, that is the view from above the bolt. The handle is about 60 degrees down from horizontal and slightly swept back.

It looks great Doc. You did an outstanding job, I can't wait to get it. My father was an expert Polisher at Utica Cutlery, he is retired now, but he can give me some help polishing it.

Thanks Antique Dr.
