ow my question is does the short case length have any meaningful effect on the cartridge? If the rounds are loaded to a constant over all length some will have a little less of the bullet inside the case - just a few thousands less. Does that have any impact on pressure inside the case or does anyone know?

No, cept maybe a certain length may be more accurate than others.

No, a few K of case length will not have any measurable effect on pressure.

You will find this with most if not all straight walled semi-auto pistol rounds. In fact, the more you shoot and reload the case the shorter they become.
