I remember that there is a guy on here that rebuilds those old presses. Does a beautiful job. I'll do a search.

There is a brief comment on the Buchanan Press in Shapes "Complete Guide to Reloading" supplement. The press is also known as a Pesco-as in Police Equipment Supply Company in Chicago. That company had bought the patents from the California designers. Information from the new owner report that the machine was being sold in 1947. The vendor claimed that it was possible to load one thousand cartridges in forty-five minutes-Sharpe was skeptical. The press had been updated with a "visible powder measure" and "new handle arrangement." The machine was only offered in 38 Special and was priced out of reach of the average handloader. At that time, however, the demand was such the company was three weeks behind. It was also noted that this machine "was the most expensive on the market." Researching PESCO may provide more useful information.
