Anyone else build theirs in 300 blackout? It would actually be easier for me to do a built in blackout rather than 5.56, simply because my state requires a 5.56 to be a heavy barrel. I'm really excited but not 100% sure about all the parts I want put on it, specifically the red dot. I've only shot a little myself, since the only place to shoot is the one gun range close by and I've never shot blackout. I do have trouble with sights though, since I've very right eye dominant and cannot at least at this point aim with both eyes open. I heard having a red dot sight helps with this problem. When I try to aim with both eyes open, I get this cross eye vision.
My first build was in 5.56, but I have built 2 300 BO's. One has a 1-4x24 Bushnell, the other has an EOTech XPS-3 with a 3X magnifier with a flip to side mount. I have thought about a red dot, but I like having the ability to increase magnification if needed. I can fire either one, when not magnified, both eyes open.
I have a couple ARs that I have built. The latest upper I got is in .300 Blackout and I have decided to use a red-dot sight myself. I ordered one from The Sportsman's Guide a few days ago (and of course it's on back order). I have regular scopes, EOTechs, tube style red-dots, and Iron Sights on my AR's so I wanted something a little different. This is what I ordered:
It was cheap enough ($44) that if I don't like it on the .300, I can always swap scopes/sights with another AR
I put a Bushnell TRS-25 on the wife's AR, and like it enough that I'm waiting to catch another deal on one for my AK. It's considered the best "inexpensive" red dot by many.
I'm too lazy to build anything but will buy the upper for 300 blackout. Was going to get a Rock river arms upper since I own a RRA, but since they screwed up and gave money to anti-gun politicians I now have to research a different company.
The last two complete (minus BCG/charge handle) uppers I bought were made by a company name Radical Firearms. One was 5.56 and the other was a .300 Blackout. I paid $179.99 for each one of them, one from Brownell's and the last one from Primary Arms.
You should think about the Sig Sauer Romeo 4B. I replaced my EO Tech 512 with it. 2 range trips and carbine course at the LGS/Range and it held perfect zero. It is a really nice optic!
Thanks. That might be a little too pricey to start with. I'm probably going to go with a mid-grade red dot at first, since I'm budgeting the AR around $800-$900.
Question, what Is different between a 556 rifle and a 300 aac, besides the barrel of course, I want to build one also, I find much better deals o. 556 kits, to the point I could order a 556 kit and a 300 barrel for less that a 300 kit alone
The only basic difference IS the barrel. Sign up for email notifications from a place called Primary Arms. The last complete upper I bought was a .300 Blackout from there for $179.99 (minus BCG and charging handle).
I'm actually looking at their site they have a special on a 556 kit $280, was thinking of ordering it plus a 300 barrel and have a spare 556 barrel, works out to about average budget kit price and a free 556 barrel
My AR pistols in 300 BO are both equipped with Bushnell TRS 25 red dot sights, great sight for under $100. Under the sight i use a 1/2" riser to place the sight co-witnessed with the iron sights which are functional through the red dot.
