Went to the hunting camp on Friday and discovered we had been burglarized again. The place had been ransacked but at least it wasn't destroyed. We lost some stuff though we don't normally leave much of value. I lost some clothes and toiletries(who wants my toothbrush?) which didn't total too much but they stole my snake boots and a pair of insulated boots. I felt very naked without my snake boots, particularly after my partner shot a rattlesnake trying to get under our house. Odd what folks take and what they leave. They took our toilet paper but left a bunch of ammo stashed all over the house. They left a dollar bill with a few bucks worth of change on a desk but they stole a kids compound bow kit. They stole some vodka, Jack Daniels, tequila, and a couple of bottles of wine but left a bottle of scotch and seagrams 7. Outside, they stole a hanging feeder and a fence post driver but left a very new lawnmower. Other odds and ends gone as well--game cameras and pop up blinds. The worst is they stole my Obama chia head...........I hate thieves.

Scumbags! hope they catch them. Maybe when they do, you will get called in to ID your stolen tooth brush, and that will be the nail that puts a rope around their necks.

    Sorry to hear that.

Makes it tempting to rig a surprise for intruders.

Sorry to hear it happened. Is there no way to secure the place? Maybe too expensive to do so?

Too bad it's illegal to set booby traps. I'm ignorant here when it comes to cabins and hunting camps. Can they be insured? I would think something like homeowners insurance should be available.

Very sorry to hear about the theft. I hate thieves more than liars and I can't tolerate a liar.

Not really worth it. We're discussing just leaving the place unlocked with a note on the door that there is really nothing of value inside but, if hungry, grab a can of beans.
I had put some phony security cameras up and some security company signs that were ignored.

Don't know about the insurance. I don't usually leave anything but bedding; just made a mistake this time.

I'm thinking something along the lines of that poisonous dart scene in the first Indiana Jones movie. Step on the wrong stone and you get a poisonous dart in your fanny. :)

I'm for that idea. Didn't check one of the neighbor hunter's place for that very reason.

Sorry for the break in. I know you didn't loose much, but the idea of having your property invaded, and you're helpless to stop it, is a bad feeling. I had my camp down on Toledo Bend broke into, they didn't take much, but destroyed as much as they could. They got caught, a bunch of kids, and the law did nothing to them.

At my buddies Deer Camp a LEO's trailer was broken into , wheeew he was hoppin' mad! The suspect was picked up by the Constable and transported to Sheriffs office for his safety. I heard some of the stolen items had been returned

I know just how torn up you are for losing that Obama Chia head...Perhaps you can call that August person and ask him to donate one of his. You can certainly tell a Quality Thief by what he takes!

I'd hide 2-3 trail cameras. Try to get ones that don't click when the take the picture. Usually it's someone who lives locally and the cops will know who the trouble makers are in town!
