--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sold a revolver a couple of months ago. This firearm was shipped to a FFL dealer in CA for the benefit of, and to be purchased by, a CA resident. Later that dealer required me to to fill out a "California Yellow Sheet" so that he could transfer the revolver to his client. I did this. On this form I used a current valid State Handgun Permit as ID.

Now the dealer tells me that he still cannot transfer the firearm to his client unless I provide him with a copy of my driver's license. I refused to do this. (The reasons that I refused a copy of my DL are my own, but one possible reason would be if I did not have a valid DL. There are other possible reasons, for example, suppose that my DL number and Social Security number are the same--and I don't some RR from CA to have that info.) Apparently the dealer is now going to return the revolver to me, at which time I will make a full refund.

My "customer" then made an attempt to get me to ship to him directly, thus tinkling my bells... Of course I refused to do this. He then brought up the possibility of me selling it to his brother in a state contiguous to my own. I told him that any sale that I made would go through a dealer, that it was illegal for me to sell to any individual who is not a resident of my own state. I have no reason to suspect this online "purchase" was any sort of "sting" other than the "customer" brought up the subjects as stated. His questions did, however, resonate with possible subterfuge. What is actually going on? I do not know.

Regardless, from where the sun now stands, I will sell nothing else related to a firearm to any resident of CA. It looks like my list of boycotted states will soon increase, too.

What is an individual to do if he accidentally sells a banned mag, or some banned empty brass, etc., into some state that has banned these items? Ignorance is no defense to breaking the law...

My take on the whole situation?

The noose is tightening rapidly for us all. It will soon be so tight as to eliminate the private interstate transfer of firearms entirely.

It is no wonder that sites such as GB are in a panic and "on tilt" in an effort to expand their auctions into non-gun areas.

One of my choices of where to relocate when my job moves is Sierra Vista, Az. Arizona may be a great place to live, but it is too damn close to Kalifornia!!!

Shoot Far, Tuckerd -

No need to worry about being close to Kalifornie when moving here - most of the "Fornies" have relocated here, also! Brought with them their driving habits, high real estate prices and love for eating out, whereas you can't wedge your foot inside an eating establishment, anymore!

NeoDebo,

I suggest that next time you want to sell a firearm to someone out of state, you take it to a FFL holder in your own state and have him transfer the firearm to the dealer in the other state. That way, you shouldn't have to deal with the Kali dealer at all. There would probably be a small additional fee of course, but it sounds like it would save you a lot of hassle.

I personally would love to get out of the Commie state of Kalifornia myself. I hardly ever eat out and think I drive pretty safely, but can't do much about the real estate prices though. Look at it this way, if enough people abandon Kali perhaps our socialist government will get kicked out and/or change their tune on firearms freedom.

Hello LIKTOSHOOT. Small world - I'm just to the north of Glendale in La Crescenta! I'm also just barely west of Montrose and the nearest post office is for Verdugo City. Nearest main cross streets are Honolulu and Ramsdell. I know none of that will mean anything to anyone not familiar with the area, but perhaps it might to your wife if she has family around here.

The sad thing about this area, and probably California in general, is the number of gun stores that have closed up shop. There used to be at least two or three in Pasadena and a couple of them in Glendale, and there was even a gunsmith just three or four blocks from me, but now the nearest gun store is Kings in Burbank. There are none that I know of in Glendale, and only Turners sporting goods in Pasadena (they sell guns as a sideline).

I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley in central California, and we used to hunt on the farms in the area and even do target practice in our front yard, but not anymore - at least not in the LA area, although the central valley is still pretty conservative.

Well now, RKBA -

If'n you are a safe driver, won't clog up the eateries much and will join us at the gun range - c'mon over! We can always make room for the GOOD people!

The ones we've been seeing are the "Beautiful People" that make a 100K playing with computers, lay around the condo pool sides greased up like pigs ready for cookin', and drive down the road with a phone stuck in each ear!

Rbka, yep yer right...means nothing to me, but, on a lighter note...they are a pretty conservative group. Mostly Dutch and went to California to farm, some are also up close to the mountains growing oranges and such by the canal. This a`l give ya a laugh...Ever see "City Slickers" "Tremors" Sleepless in Seattle" "Mighty Joe Young"... The Director of these films, is Ron Underwood...my wifes cousin. Great guy, wife and kids too. They live in Glendale too. Small world, huh? LTS

I would hardly qualify as "Beautiful" I own my own house, not condo (and it's paid for BTW), don't have a pool, and don't own a cell phone!

Nope, afraid not, but I wish I were as wealthy as he probably is! My name is Ron Dotson.

Ron, you never know it to look at him. Just a nice you guy about 40 or so. Damn hard work and long hours though. He just finished a movie in Canada with Eddie Murphy last summer and I guess it`s in the edit room getting ready for release. I`m not real sharp on the inside stuff, but do know some are years in the ready room. Very tuff and competative business.....Oh well, just fodder for fun. Glad your here and hope you enjoy the crew.
