I have this carbine which is marked .m.0.3. on the lock. I have come as far as to conclude that it is military but I can not find from what country it originates or which exact model it is. I first figured it was a French one but I stumbled upon one in a French auction with a similar lock which was described as a foreign military rifle, also I think the proofings are not french.
If anybody could give it a try I would highly appreciate, im lost with this one. Two of the pictures are from underneath the barrel had to clean it up a bit to make out the markings.
Hahaha yes, I tried and figured it was probably not the original. (there is an, H with a circle on the ramrod) but didn't take any pictures of that seems as you rigthly point out to be non original.
The stock looks to have been cut-down at the tip. The front band and front sight unit are moved far to the rear. The ram rod - also being a military type - may be either a replacement or cut down. The general look of the lock plate makes me think of Belgian or Prussian make.
I have looked at this for 4 days. We got ourselves a winner indeed it is a pattern 1845 shortened. Thank you for the help! Was getting anoyed with myself for not finding out what it was.
